Mamnoon Hussain was the twelfth President of Pakistan. It was the first time in the country’s 70-year history that the presidency had been constitutionally transferred from one elected president to another. When he became president, the post was transferred to him from PPP co-chairman Asif Ali Zardari.
The party and Shahbaz Sharif expressed regret
PML-N President and Leader of the Opposition Shahbaz Sharif has also expressed grief over the death of former President Mamnoon Hussain. He said in a statement, “Today we have lost a person who loves Pakistan and has a precious heart.”
According to him, he was a trusted, loyal and ideological ally of Nawaz Sharif. And he stood firm with the party and its leadership in every up and down and never fell prey to expediency.
The statement further said that former President Mamnoon Hussain was a living example of our Eastern values and traditions, nobility and scientific culture. Apart from being a linguist and a literary man, he was a wonderful person who loved knowledge.

PML-N leader Mamnoon Hussain was the twelfth president of the country. Mamnoon Hussain has been a middle-class businessman and inactive political figure.
Mamnoon Hussain was born in 1940 in Agra, India. After the formation of Pakistan, like many other families, his family migrated to Pakistan.
Mamnoon Hussain, a graduate of the Institute of Business Administration in Karachi, said he had been politically associated with the Muslim League since 1970.
In 1993, when the then President of Pakistan Ghulam Ishaq Khan dismissed the government of Mian Nawaz Sharif, Mamnoon Hussain became close to the Sharif family in those days and later he held other positions including the acting president of the Muslim League-Sindh.
Mamnoon Hussain was an adviser to Sindh Chief Minister Liaquat Jatoi in 1997. He was appointed governor in 1999, but only six months later, Nawaz Sharif’s government was overthrown and ousted.
Mamnoon Hussain used to trade in cloth on Jamia Cloth Market Bandar Road in Karachi. He also had a house in the same area and later moved to Defense.
After the captivity and deportation of Mian Nawaz Sharif. Mamnoon Hussain was rarely seen in the PML-N protests, his role was very inactive.
Syed Ghous Ali Shah, Elahi Bakhsh Soomro, Saleem Zia, Sardar Rahim and Aleem Adil Sheikh were the PML-N’s identities in Sindh. Aleem Adil Sheikh joined PML-Q, Sardar Rahim joined PML-F and Elahi Bakhsh Soomro withdrew from practical politics.
After Nawaz Sharif’s return home, Mamnoon Hussain reappeared. He was rarely seen in PML-N rallies and processions. His speech revolved around Nawaz Sharif’s personality instead of politics.
People of Pakistan on social media were also seen sharing the news of the former president’s death and expressing their regret. Currently, President Mamnoon Hussain is in the top trend in Pakistan.
