Anwaar ul Haq Kakar is the new caretaker Prime Minister

Anwaar ul Haq Kakar is the new caretaker Prime Minister. He is a member of Senate of Pakistan. He was elected as a Senator in March 2018. Prior to that, he was the spokesman of Balochistan Government. Moreover, he is known to have cordial terms with establishment in Pakistan.

Anwaar ul Haq Kakar is one of the founders of Balochistan Awami Party, famously known as BAP Party. The party was formed by Pakistani establishment in 2018 when they overthrew the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz government in Balochistan. At that time, Anwaar ul Haq Kakar was actively engaged in establishing the new party to ensure an anti-PML-N government is formed.

However, the times have changed. Today, Anwaar ul Haq Kakar was nominated by the same Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz leader, the incumbent Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif.

Who is Anwaar ul Haq Kakar?

It is pertinent to mention that Anwaar ul Haq Kakar was elected as a Senator on a General Seat. He took oath of his office as Senator on 12 March 2018. He has remained instrumental in passage of several laws presented in the Senate of Pakistan. Moreover, he was also actively participating in political activities at the time of Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf government from August 2018 until its removal in April 2022.

Although, the issue of caretaker Prime Minister has remained a major challenge for the outgoing government. There were several names proposed for the office. The names included Ishaq Dar, Dr. Hafeez Peerzada and former Pakistani Ambassador Jillani.

Yet, the name was kept secret until the last hour. And, Anwaar ul Haq Kakar became the choice of all the stakeholders. These include the Pakistan Democratic Movement parties, the opposition and the establishment.
