Azerbaijan Airlines begins direct flights to Pakistan. The announcement came in the mid week as Azerbaijan Airlines is planning to begin its direct operation in Pakistan from September 2023. This is a big announcement since there are thousands of Pakistani tourists traveling to Baku every year. Presently, most of the visitors have to travel through Dubai, Abu Dhabi or Qatar since there is only one Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) flight to the city. However, there is an increasing number of tourists which require more direct flights to Baku.
The announcement says that Islamabad Baku direct flights will begin on September 20, 2023. It will include direct flights to Islamabad, Lahore and Karachi. The total travel time for Islamabad & Lahore to Baku in a direct flight is 4 hours and 35 minutes. This will remove many hassles for Pakistani visitors. It will also open new tourism options in the North Eastern Europe for Pakistani visitors.
Several European countries are closer to Azerbaijan and Pakistani tourists have to travel via longer routes to these destinations. However, this new direct flight route will bring more tourism options for Pakistanis.
The flights are also planned in a manner that they reach every city of Pakistan all week round. For instance, the Islamabad-Baku flights will be available on Wednesdays and Saturdays whereas the flights between Lahore-Baku will be available on Mondays and Fridays. Similarly, the flights for Karachi-Baku will be available on Thursdays and Sundays.
This new flight schedule will change the usual relationship between the two countries. It will also increase business and cultural partnerships between Pakistan and Azerbaijan. Moreover, it will also open door for more people-to-people contact between the two countries.
