Fully Built E-11 Bridge on Margalla Expressway Awaits VVIP Inauguration. The bridge was completed a few months ago. However, the regular track work and maintenance is continuing for over last three months. The bridge is part of Margalla Expressway which was launched by former Prime Minister Imran Khan’s government on 18 April 2021. Margalla Expressway was inaugurated by Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif during his previous tenure before his government’s completion in August 2023. Since then, the opening of this road is awaited.

Although, the Margalla Expressway was inaugurated by the government. The road was continuously blocked for maintenance purposes near Shah Allah Dita village. And, although, the entire Margalla Expressway is completely ready along with the E-11 bridge. The bridge and the linking roads are still blocked by placing large chunks of sand on both sides of the road.

This area of Islamabad Capital Territory connects the G.T. Road through this new link road. However, the bridge blockade affects the residents of multiple sectors in the city. The blockade particularly affects the residents of Sectors E-11, D-12, Shah Allah Dita and those traveling to nearby areas on G.T. Road.

The residents have to face extreme traffic especially during the rush hours. The traffic gets blocked as there is a bottleneck at the old Margalla Road at the verge of E-11 entrance. Since the bridge is closed on the E-11 side, the entire traffic enters the bottleneck which creates a huge mess for the residents.

Sources claim that the work has been completed. However, the inauguration of this bridge is still awaited. Interestingly, Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif inaugurated a small segment of Margalla Expressway in the last week. However, this bridge was not part of the inaugural.

It is unfortunate that Fully Built E-11 Bridge on Margalla Expressway Awaits VVIP Inauguration and such an important road is closed resulting in wastage of hundreds of litres of fuel and creates hurdles for the citizens.
