The revenue of the NHA has increased 100% from PKR 64 billions to PKR 110 billions in six months.
National Highway Authority Revenue Increases 100%. Federal Minister for Communications wants NHA employees should be given bonus and financial rewards for record increase in revenue generation. However, the Minister may not be aware that NHA revenue is result of increasing toll tax on common traveler. NHA is increasing the toll tax on motorways and highways across Pakistan. Often, this increase is exorbitant without any reversal.
Interestingly, toll plazas revenue collection has also been reached to 64 billion rupees from rupees 32 billion. Federal Minister for Communications, Privatization and Board of Investment Abdul Aleem Khan considers it as another milestone regarding financial stability. Mr. Khan was visiting the National Traffic Operation Center.
Mr. Khan reviewed the traffic monitoring and control system on Motorways. He also directed to prepare report on daily basis of the revenue collection.
Moreover, a briefing portrays that 99% vehicles have been shifted to avail M-tag facility on Lahore-Sialkot Motorway. He wants the camera monitoring to be ensured from the number plate and sides of the vehicles. He also wants its data should also be available with the Secretary Communications and Chairman NHA.
Mr. Khan directed to create awareness among masses regarding the use of M-tag in the next 2 weeks. He wants more vehicles can benefit from this facility which saves time, prevents theft and reduces traffic pressure.
The Federal Minister also had an interaction with the Monitoring Officers during his visit to the control center. He was looking for suggestions on which he said that the solution to the problems is to move the system maximum on automation.
Mr. Khan finds the revenue collection as encouraging which will help to make NHA financially independent and strong. National Highway Authority is Pakistan’s Central Organization to manage its Highways and Motorways.
