Who will the 4 days Israel Hamas Ceasefire help? The Qatari government announced on Wednesday a ceasefire between Israel and Hamas. The region was under fire for over 40 days as the war between Israel and Hamas began on October 7, 2023. The war has bad results, usually. They were very bad for the people of Gaza. Overall, there were reports of 15000 casualties in Gaza. Similarly, there were 1200 casualties in Israel. The Israeli forces were bombing all over the Gaza city. There were journalists, UN peacekeepers and doctors who were brutally murdered. The worst part was the hospital bombing in Gaza. All the hospitals were thrown to non-functioning as continuous bombing from Israel brought complete destruction of their structures. What was the result? There was a humanitarian crisis arising out of a genocide of Palestinian people.
The leaders world over were asking for controlling the situation. However, the United States, United Kingdom, Australia and Canada were in all out support of Israel. The war also resulted in a dispute at the United Nations. A number of UN resolutions calling for a ceasefire between Israel and Hamas were ending up in veto from the major powers. The Russian and Chinese side took a more humanitarian path. They continuously sought ceasefire among the two parties. Yet, there was no ceasefire for the last 47 days. The sudden announcement of a ceasefire brings in several questions to ponder upon.
Terms of Israel Hamas Ceasefire
Qatar’s government brought an announcement on ceasefire in a sudden move. There weren’t much details about the exact terms of the ceasefire. Yet, it speaks about the pause for a while which will ensure the delivery of humanitarian aid to Gaza city. Moreover, it will also ensure fuel supplies and major commodities to reach Gaza. Additionally, it will end up in release of 50 hostages from each side; meaning a prisoner swap agreement.
Who benefits from the Ceasefire?
Well, there are real people dying out of this war. So, everyone is a beneficiary. Apparently, it will pause the current hostile environment which is killing several people everyday. It will let the power holders to pause, breathe and think on their strategies and how they can change the course of events, if any. Yet, there is already a lot of bloodbath. There are men, women and children left homeless, without their families, and no sight of peace in their surroundings. So, a small pause will only help them recover from losing more every single day.
What brought the Ceasefire?
Are you missing some news? Quite unusually, the entire Arab leadership was in Beijing this week. They were all there for requesting Chinese interference in the matter. Beijing communique also referred to a ceasefire. And, this was against the usual Arab approach of dealing with matters. The Arab countries are heavily depending on the Western countries for literally everything. The US serves as their go to place to deal with their local, national or regional problems.
This was the first time that the Arab world was approaching a non Western nation to resolve their problem. It would have made the US upset. Thus, the Chinese role could be an important factor in reaching a ceasefire deal.

Who will the 4 days Israel Hamas Ceasefire help?
After the announcement of ceasefire, everyone was cherishing that there is some respite. However, there were reports of continuous bombing by Israeli forces even after a few hours. Thus, the results of the ceasefire are yet to be seen.
However, there are hidden agendas when we talk about stopping such a massive war. There are things to watch out? Was Israel feeling international isolation at this moment? Or, Was the US government much concerned with the China’s involvement in the matter? Was the mounting local pressures on President Biden from the Palestinian groups increasing? Or has Israel really thought of helping the poor Gazans after bombing them for almost 50 days now?
The 4 day ceasefire may help the residents of Gaza to rest and recover from their losses. Yet, it cannot change the course of life for these people who were traumatized in a most non-human manner.
