Saudi Arabia announces major Relief for 2022 Flood Victims

Saudi Arabia announces major Relief for 2022 Flood Victims. The King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Center (KSrelief) has announced a major initiative to build 1,000 permanent houses for families in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) and Punjab who were displaced by the devastating 2022 floods. This project is part of a broader series of public facilitation initiatives announced by KSrelief, aimed at rebuilding communities and fostering resilience across Pakistan.

King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Centre or KSrelief is dedicated to coordinating and providing international relief to crisis-afflicted communities, alleviating suffering and providing the essentials to allow people everywhere to live good lives. Programs are chosen based upon the eligibility of targeted recipients in selected geographical areas. The aid includes all humanitarian and relief sectors (Relief Security, Camps Management, Shelter, Early Recovery, Protection, Education, Water and Sanitation, Nutrition, Health, Humanitarian and Emergency Relief Coordination, Logistics and Emergency Telecommunication).

The activities of the center were inaugurated in May of 2015 under the high patronage and guidance of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, King Salman bin Abdulaziz.

The announcement came during an event held in October, 2024, H.E. Engineer Ahmed Ali Al-Baiz, Assistant Supervisor General of Operations at KSrelief, formalized the initiative by signing Cooperation Programs (JCP) with Pakistan’s National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA).

The 1,000 houses, each comprising two rooms, a kitchen, and a washroom, are expected to provide safe, permanent housing for approximately 7,000 individuals focuses on the flood-hit regions of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Punjab, with 590 houses in Dera Ismail Khan (KP) and 410 in Rajanpur and Dera Ghazi Khan (Punjab).

By providing secure, resilient housing, this KSrelief initiative aims to support the recovery process and enhance the long-term well-being of affected communities. As Saudi Arabia announces major Relief for 2022 Flood Victims, it shows commitment to Saudi Arabia to Pakistan’s destitute communities.
