Dubai International Airport Sets New Passenger Record in H1 2025. Dubai International Airport welcomed 46 million passengers in the first half of 2025, setting a new record for the facility. This figure marks a 2.3% year-on-year increase, despite flight disruptions during the Iran-Israel war in May and June. It shows it is the first choice of passengers and top rated airlines in the world.
Airlines canceled several regional routes due to temporary airspace closures. Even so, the airport maintained strong momentum, handling an average of 7.7 million passengers per month—or 254,000 travelers daily. January broke records as the busiest month, with 8.5 million passengers.
Dubai Airports CEO Paul Griffiths shared optimism about the year ahead. He expects the airport to reach 96 million passengers by the end of 2025, edging closer to the 100 million milestone. In 2024, the airport handled a record 92.3 million travelers.
Expansion Plans Aim for the Future of Global Aviation
India, Saudi Arabia, and the United Kingdom remained the top three source markets. Dubai, positioned at the crossroads of Asia, Europe, and Africa, has held the title of the world’s busiest international air hub for over ten years.
Looking ahead, Dubai plans to invest $35 billion to expand and relocate its main airport to Al Maktoum International. Located on the city’s outskirts, the new airport will scale up in phases and eventually handle up to 240 million passengers annually. Officials expect it to become the world’s largest airport by capacity when completed in 2032.
As global travel demand grows, Dubai is preparing to lead the future of aviation. Passenger activity is projected to increase further in the second half of the year.
