National Emergencies Operation Centre (NEOC) has issued a weather advisory warning of a strong westerly wave across Pakistan.
NEOC Issues Weather Advisory for 24th February to 1st March 2025. The system is likely to bring rain, wind, thunderstorms, and hailstorms, along with snowfall in northern and western parts of the country. The weather advisory warning from National Emergencies Operation Centre (NEOC) states a strong westerly wave expected to impact various regions of Pakistan from 24th February to 1st March 2025.
The advisory states that Islamabad, upper Punjab, Pothohar Region, central and southern/northeastern Punjab will experience rain, wind, and thunderstorms accompanied by snowfall or hailstorms. Moreover, Heavy rainfall may trigger flash floods in vulnerable areas.
In Balochistan, rain, wind, and thunderstorms with snowfall over hills are anticipated. The weather pattern will hit western, northwestern, and northern parts of the province. Moreover, there is a possibility of flash flooding in susceptible regions.
Similarly, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) is likely to witness rain, wind, thunderstorms, and hailstorms. The KP residents should also expect snowfall over the hills in Upper and Western KP, including Malakand and Hazara Divisions. The advisory warns that heavy rainfall in northern KP may lead to flash flooding and landslides.
There is a similar pattern in Gilgit-Baltistan (GB) and Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK). NEOC is expecting rain, wind, thunderstorms, and hailstorms with snowfall over the hills.
The advisory alerts people travel disruption and challenges for routine activities. Meanwhile, the forecast for Sindh is mostly cold and dry weather throughout the period.

Meanwhile, the Authorities have issued warnings regarding the potential hazards associated with this weather system. There is a risk of heavy snowfall in Murree, Galliyat, and other northern regions.
