Fatty liver disease is so common that 30 percent of people around the world are affected by it and there is no effective treatment for it. But now experts have made a health discovery that will make it possible to effectively treat this most common liver disease.
In a joint study by Ulsan University, Pusan National University and Ulsan University Hospital in South Korea, a microRNA 93 was discovered that plays an important role in the development of fatty liver disease.
This is the first time that this compound has been linked to the development and spread of this liver disease. In the study, abnormal levels of RNA were found in people suffering from fatty liver disease. According to the study, this RNA increases the rate of fat accumulation in the liver, swelling and other complications.
To better understand this, researchers genetically modified mice to block the production of this RNA, which significantly reduced the rate of fat accumulation in the liver, while improving insulin sensitivity and liver function.
The researchers then screened 150 drugs approved by the US Food and Drug Administration to see if they reduced RNA levels. They found that vitamin B3 was the most effective option. Mice treated with vitamin B3 had a dramatic reduction in RNA levels, while fat breakdown in the liver returned to normal.
According to the researchers, this vitamin is quite common and already approved, so it could help in the effective treatment of this common liver disorder for which there is currently no effective treatment.
Ten Foods for Fatty Liver
Fatty liver is a condition in which excess fat accumulates in the liver and is usually caused by obesity or an unhealthy lifestyle. Non-alcoholic fatty liver disease is a serious condition that, if left untreated, can lead to inflammation or hardening of the liver (fibrosis). In addition to diet, exercise and medication, certain foods can help reduce fat accumulation in the liver and improve liver function.
The results of this study were published in the journal Metabolism. It should be noted that fatty liver disease is a chronic disease that affects millions of people around the world. The term non-alcoholic fatty liver disease is usually used for this disease and it is the most common type of liver disease.
During this disease, the liver starts storing a large amount of fat and if it is not treated, its functions stop. As a result of this liver disease, the risk of metabolic diseases such as type 2 diabetes and obesity also increases. The amount of fat in a healthy liver is very low and even a slight increase in it is considered a disease.
According to a report by The Times of India and recommendations by Dr. Saurabh Sethi, a gastroenterologist trained at Harvard University, choosing the right foods plays an important role in liver health. Here are the top ten most beneficial foods:
Walnuts

Walnuts are one of the best fruits for treating fatty liver, as they contain omega-3 and 6 fatty acids and antioxidants. Moreover, studies have shown that regular consumption reduces liver fat, improves its function and supports metabolism.
High-quality olive oil

This healthy oil is rich in antioxidants and several studies have linked it to reducing liver fat, reducing inflammation and improving insulin sensitivity. It also helps protect liver cells from damage.
Tempeh

Tofu and tempeh, which are made from soybeans, are excellent choices for plant-based protein. Research shows that soybean protein can reduce fat accumulation in the liver and activate enzymes related to metabolism.
Garlic

Each clove of garlic contains plant compounds that help reduce excess fat and improve the body’s detoxification process. Several studies have shown that it can reduce liver enzymes and limit inflammation.
Coffee

Coffee is one of the most beneficial beverages for patients with fatty liver. It reduces liver enzymes, slows the progression of the disease, and has been linked to increasing liver flexibility and reducing the risk of fibrosis. It is best to drink coffee without any added sweeteners.
Barley

Barley contains a soluble fiber called “beta-glucan,” which helps lower cholesterol and improve gut health. Additionally, including barley in your diet can help reduce fat, improve insulin sensitivity, and even aid in weight loss.
Green tea

Green tea is rich in antioxidant catechins. Moreover, research has shown that it reduces liver fat, improves liver function, helps with weight control, and reduces inflammation.
Cruciferous vegetables

Broccoli, cabbage, and brussels sprouts are rich in fiber and sulforaphane, which boost detoxification. These vegetables reduce fat accumulation in the liver and limit inflammation.
Avocado

Avocado contains a blend of healthy fats, fiber, and antioxidants, which help reduce inflammation and improve the liver’s ability to process fat. Moreover, it also increases levels of glutathione, which is essential for cell repair.
Berries

Blueberries, red berries, and strawberries contain polyphenol antioxidants, which reduce oxidative stress and reduce inflammation. Studies have shown that they reduce fat accumulation in the liver and improve liver function.
