Bill Mitchell mocks China for doing nothing in Venezuela or Iran.
China is a Paper Tiger, claims US analyst Bill Mitchell calling out the strong nation for being unable to stand for its partners in South America and the Middle East. Bill Mitchell is the CEO of YourVoice Studios in United States and claims to be staunch republican and Trump supporter.
The analyst makes strong claims against China and Russia in multiple statements. He adds, “Russia and China abandon Venezuela and Iran because neither country can survive with the US economy.” He also claims that the biggest weapon for the United States is its economy. He is referring to the massive US military action on the territory of Venezuela when US forces captured Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro from his compound.
On February 28, the Israeli-US strikes also deepened the Middle East crisis by killing Iranian Supreme Leader. Although, Iran announced it the next day, Israel and the United States had announced the demise of Ayatollah Khamenei on the same day. It shows the strength of the Israeli and US intelligence network in the region. On the other hand, Russia and China condemned US strikes on Iran via statements at the United Nations only.
Referring to this, Bill Mitchell was fast in taunt on China. He called it a paper tiger and added that there is no threat from China. While recalling its weakness, he added that there is no threat of Chinese attack on Taiwan. On this he added that he knew it because China did nothing when its closest allies were being targeted.
He stated, “Venezuela was China’s ally. We took out Maduro and China did nothing. Iran was China’s ally. We took out Khamenei and China did nothing.” He further asserted, “They will never attack Taiwan.”
Reviewing China as a Global Power
Although, Bill Mitchell claims China is a Paper Tiger. However, the current socio-economic or political strengths of China stand much higher than what the US analyst claims. It stands true that China did not respond militarily. However, the US attacks also came as a surprise since Iran was in close dialogue with the United States. A day earlier, the Iranian side and the mediator, Oman, had claimed that both parties were close to reach an agreement. Thus, the US attack was primarily unthinkable at the moment. Moreover, China has also termed United States as greatest source of uncertainty for international nuclear order.
Amid these claims, China still stands as a global power around the world. It has created a huge infrastructure network under the Belt and Road Initiative which also includes the China Pakistan Economic Corridor. Even its economy touched another milestone. On February 28, China said its GDP has expanded 5 percent in a year surpassing $20.4 trillion for the first time.
Interestingly, Peoples Liberation Army is also world’s largest military force with the second highest budget of US$ 314 billion in 2024 alone. In fact, Chinese Defense is termed unbreakable with its large infrastructure and and massive defense technology. The Chinese technology is massively used across the world for defense expositions as well. It is also one of the largest suppliers of military equipment to several nations. Thus, the current posture of China may be towards reviewing the shifting trend of global geopolitical situation.
Therefore, the actual response from China may surprise the stakeholders of global order at some point of time.
