Corona situation starts getting worst in Pakistan. The country is witnessing a huge spike in cases in the month of March. Several reports claim that the current ratio of infection is every 1 person out of 10 people is infected in the country. Moreover, the current levels show that every second person is infected out of 10 people in major cities.
This is a major outbreak as the first and second wave had a very little impact on people. The Pakistani government took very strong steps to contain the spread. It’s results were visible as the smart lockdown strategy proved to lessen the cases across the country. Overall, there was very little impact of both the waves on general public in terms of its spread. However, there were significant economic and mental health issues but these were global.
Pakistan’s response did help in containing the spread of virus until now. Yet, the recent wave is getting out of control and there is a huge spike in cases suddenly. There were around 750 cases within the city’s jurisdiction in Islamabad only on Thursday, 18 March 2021.
It may be noted that this is becoming a serious challenge for the authorities. It reflects that the vaccination also doesn’t protect from getting the virus. The Pakistani Prime Minister received his vaccination only a few day ago, and he has also tested positive today.
The health practitioners are calling for immediate attention of the general public to follow the standard operating procedures being chalked out. The authorities claim that the situation may get out of control in case people start taking it lightly.
It should be noted that the general public observed extreme care at the arrival of corona virus in Pakistan in beginning of the last year. Yet, the people are taking it lightly now.
