16 Bodies Founded From Mass Grave In Kohat Hills: Officials

Kohat police have founded 16 bodies from a mass grave in Jowakhi mountainous area of Bobo Khel, bordering the city of Nowshera, the Kohat deputy commissioner confirmed Friday.

According to police, the bodies have all been lifted from the grave and shifted to the hospital to find the cause of their death.

Police launched an operation to recover the bodies after the heirs of the deceased urged the government in this regard.

Kamran Bangash, a spokesperson for the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government, confirmed that the bodies were of the coal miners who had gone missing from 2011.

He said the government was in contact with their families and their killers would be arrested soon.

The provincial government announced a compensation of 10 lac for each bereaved family.

It is not the first time, in 2011, some laborers from Dara Adam Khel had been kidnapped, murdered and their bodies disposed of in the mountains.

In march 2012, a mass grave was found in the region as authorities had recovered more than decayed bodies from mass graves in Jowakhi hilly region.
