Pakistan, Turkey hold High Level Military Dialogue. 16th Round of Pakistan – Turkey High Level Military Dialogue Group meeting (HLMDG) was held in Ministry of Defence, Rawalpindi, Pakistan from 4-7 January 2022. Lt Gen (Retd) Mian Muhammad Hilal Hussain, Secretary Defence led the Pakistan delegation while Turkish delegation was led by General Selcuk BAYRAKTAROGLU, Deputy Chief of Turkish General Staff of Republic of Turkey.
Prior to holding of Plenary Session, General Selcuk BAYRAKTAROGLU, had a meeting with Lt Gen (Retd) Mian Muhammad Hilal Hussain. During the meeting, matters of mutual interest including whole spectrum of bilateral defence cooperation were discussed. Both sides showed satisfaction on various areas of common interest, including security, counter terrorism and handling of prevailing regional environment.
In addition, delegations took stock of the measures that have been taken since holding of last HLMDG meeting in Turkey in December 2020. General Selcuk BAYRAKTAROGLU also held meetings with the Minister for Defence, Chairman Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee, Chief of the Army Staff, Chief of the Naval Staff, Chief of the Air Staff and President National Defence University, Islamabad.
During these meetings, matters relating to defence cooperation covering training, exchange visits and co-production of defence equipment were discussed. Talks were held in a most cordial and congenial environment.
Delegation leaders resolved to work together for enhanced cooperation in defence and security related fields. It was agreed that 17th Round of Pakistan-Turkey HLMDG meeting will be held next year in Turkey on mutually agreed dates.
