The Foreign Office has confirmed the list of dignitaries attending the 23rd Meeting of the Council of Heads of Government of Shanghai Cooperation Organization in Islamabad.

Who’s Who in Attendance at SCO Summit Islamabad? The preparations for the 23rd Meeting of the Council of Heads of Government were in place for several months. Islamabad is hosting such a high profile summit after several years. The government has requested Pakistan Army to take over the control of Islamabad to ensure fool proof security. Islamabad intends to use this summit to get back on the global stage. Since, Pakistan’s economy tanked for past few years and its global image was severely damaged. Thus, Pakistan’s Government considers it a major opportunity to raise its global stature.

Therefore, we review Who’s Who in Attendance at SCO Summit Islamabad? The Foreign Office shared its confirmed list of guests for the 23rd Meeting of the Council of Heads of Government. The list reflects that the Prime Ministers of China, Russia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, and Uzbekistan  will attend the Summit. This is the highest level of engagement from the governments of these countries.

As per reports, Seven Prime Ministers including those from Russia and China will be participating at the Summit. Moreover, one Vice President will attend the two-day Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) council meeting in Islamabad.

India’s External Affairs Minister S. Jai Shankar will also be present at the SCO Summit. Additionally, the prime minister of Mongolia (observer state) and officials from Turkmenistan (special guest) will participate.

This marks Pakistan’s first major regional conference in years, with heightened security measures in place and a three-day public holiday announced in Islamabad and Rawalpindi.
