Israeli occupation forces arrested the young graduate Abdullah Maqdesawi from the town of Burqin, west of Jenin, upon his return to the homeland from Pakistan.

Israel Arrests Pakistan Naval Academy Graduate of Palestinian Authority. The officer Abdullah Maqdesawi graduated on 28 June 2025 from Pakistan Naval Engineering College. It is concerning because several Palestinian students are studying in Pakistan and plan to return on completion of their education.

Abdullah Maqdesawi was part of Batch 22-B in the Naval College. The Batch 22-B included participation of two Palestinian students who were sent by the Military Training Authority as part of the Overseas Colleges Program.

One of the students stood out during the ceremony by assuming the position of Deputy Commander of the Military Column, an honorable display that reflects the discipline and excellence of Palestinian students and their ability to represent their country in the best possible light in international forums.

This participation comes within the framework of the Military Training Authority’s efforts to enhance the efficiency of its members and prepare highly qualified and trained cadres by leveraging the academic and military expertise of friendly countries. Pakistan has been supporting military training for the Palestinian Authority which is recognized by the global community as political representative of the Palestine.

However, the Israeli government is posing a new threat to the civil and political support to Palestinian Authority as well. Resultantly, the Israeli forces use unabated force against the innocent Palestinians. In the same manner, Abdullah Maqdesawi was arrested on his return from Pakistan after completion of his training. He was transferred to the Ofer military court, which sentenced him to administrative detention as a precautionary measure, due to his scholarship from the Palestinian Authority to study electrical engineering in military sciences.

Although, the training is part of a bilateral engagement between Pakistan and the Palestinian Authority. The future of this programme may also be reviewed owing to the new posture from the Israeli administration.
