Digital Scams and Phishing is becoming a common norm across the world. In fact, online scams have surged in the era of artificial intelligence. It has always been happening. However, a number of phishing projects are recorded only in 2024. Most of the time, the educated class is trapped in fraudulent projects. According to a report, West India is known as the country of scammers, where about 55 to 60 percent of tech scams are sprung. Recently, an online non-fungible token company was set in motion, which provided a good profit upon investing in it. It lasted for about 2 years. Moreover, it was nothing more than a Ponzi scheme that scammed those who wanted to get rich quickly. It not only looted the ordinary people but also the educated class.
Treasure NFT
It is estimated that Treasure NFT has defrauded Pakistanis of nearly 45 billion rupees within 24 hours. The reasons to cross the river are many, such as the education system, which doesn’t make graduated youths get a proper job. Similarly, it also shows the loopholes in the governing system that failed to provide employment opportunities to its citizens. There are other phishing activities reported, like WhatsApp data stealing and sending links to grab bank account information.
Although, the Digital Nation Pakistan Bill 2025 offers some relief. Digital Scams and Phishing need a comprehensive approach. To counter all these illegal and fraudulent earning activities, the government should properly investigate the existing scams, block all such types of websites, and severely punish all the people involved.
The government should launch online earnings courses for interested people to make them able to trade painstakingly instead of becoming victims of Ponzi schemes. As per data from the National Stock Exchange India, investors under the age of 30 rose to 40 percent by August 2024. Hence, it is the need of the hour to make the youth skillful to contribute to the national economy.
