Deputy Commissioner Kohistan Arif Khan Yousafzai told the media that according to initial information, the Chinese Engineers Bus Accident was a road accident and was not an incident of explosion or terrorism. He said more details would be provided after the investigation. According to Arif Khan Yousafzai, this is a dangerous road where unfortunately road accidents are common.
“Helicopters have arrived to evacuate the victims,” he said. According to initial reports from the deputy commissioner’s office in Upper Kohistan, a total of 10 people were killed in the incident, including six Chinese nationals and two F.I. C personnel, a bus driver and a conductor.
However, a senior administration official told Reuters that “there was a big explosion in a bus in Upper Kohistan in which Chinese engineers were travelling.”
According to Reuters, the official said that more than 30 Chinese engineers were on board the bus in Upper Kohistan and it was on its way to Dasu Dam.
However, according to the Dasu police station, the Chinese Engineers Bus Accident took place at Barsin in a moving vehicle on Karakoram Highway. The SHO and all police officers and personnel have reached the spot after the incident.
According to Dasu police station, “we have only preliminary information available now.” According to Kohistan police control, there is no internet or telephone service at the site.
It should be noted that Bersin is located at a distance of about ten kilometres from Dasu, the headquarters of Upper Kohistan.
Chinese Engineers Bus Accident
On the other hand, a high-level delegation of the provincial government has left for Kohistan after the incident, including the Chief Minister’s Special Assistant for Information Kamran Bangash, Chief Secretary and Chief of Police.
Kamran Bangash said in a statement that the media would be briefed on the situation after an investigation into the matter.
Upper Kohistan Dasu Location
Upper Kohistan Dasu is located on the Karakoram Highway. This place is also on the site of Dasu Dam. There is a water pipe near this place from where the locals draw water and there is a population near this road.

Eyewitnesses at the scene told journalist Muhammad Zubair that the incident took place in the morning when, as usual, the buses of the workers working at Dasu Dam were arriving on time and suddenly exploded. There was a loud noise. After which the bus bounced in the air and fell down, followed by the screams of the injured.
According to another eyewitness, “After the blast, it looked like the bus was flying in the air.” After which she just came down with a loud voice. Locals saw the accident and rushed to the spot where the injured were screaming.
